Mars is closer to Earth right now than it would be for another 15 years

According to a CNN post, Mars will be shining its bright red light throughout the month of October — visible in the east each evening and in the west before dawn. The red planet is nearly 40 million miles away from Earth and scientists say it won’t be this close again until 2035.

Next week, Earth will swing between Mars and the sun — an event called Mars’ opposition, according to NASA.
